I Hereby Declare this "Eat Like You're Poor" Week!

... Because you really are poor. Yes, our expenses got the best of us this month. Jonathan only gets paid once a month, and while things usually get tight the week before he gets paid, this month, we completely. ran. out. We did a little inventory of our cupboards and fridge and quickly realized we would be eating poor this week. But this is not a sob story. It's about being creative until next Friday when Jonathan does get paid and making life fun despite the circumstance. What makes it fun is the challenge itself: coming up with healthy dishes with whatever food supply we already have (giving me an invaluable appreciation for food storage). In fact, we decided that our finances could benefit from an "Eat Like You're Poor" week every month. Ya know, make a tradition out of it. Because isn't life more joyful when you doing something by choice, rather than when you feel acted upon? So, I hereby declare this "Eat Like You're Poor" Week!

Sounds like fun. Whenever I want to really buy something but Ben says we can't afford it I always tell him I'll find the money by cutting our food budget down. Then we 'eat like we're poor'! Crepes or Hootenanny Pancakes are some of my favorite cheap meals. Good luck!!
You are definately not the only one to do this!! We have had a few rough spots in our time together too and we have had some 'poor' food moments more than I care to share!!! I also do the same thing that Alicia does (her comment)- cut our food budget down to get something!!
Ah...the joys of matrimony on a budget!!
Ha ha ha. It has an official name! I had no idea! I'll you it next time!
That's great. We are having an eat-like-you're-poor month. Love food storage for that reason.
